Well I don’t really know
where to start but first I will apologize for the grammatical errors and I absolutely
love the MTC! I’m having so much fun, and learning so much. You can learn so
much when you actually pay attention and listen its CRAZY!
On the way to the MTC we were
talking about who my companions would be and I said I wanted a comp from Cali
or a poly, well the Lord blessed me with both and I absolutely love them. They
are perfect for me. Elder Pulice (police) is from Redding, California and he is the
dough boy. He is fun but also keeps me in line. Elder Iongi (e-ong-e) is from Portland,
Oregon but lived in Utah for a while but me and him get along so well. We both
played rugby and football and have so much fun. We all get along together so
well and its good because elder pulice keeps us in line. In our district it is
just us three elders and four hermanas. The hermanas are the best and well all
get along so well. We spend way too much time talking and laughing and not
studying but we have gotten better.
Our zone is soo cool most of
our zone left this week though. All through my life I was told I would be
companions with the Oly kids and I never believed people, but everyone was
right. On the first day I was going to my room and got to my door, looked next
door and saw the elders and saw a kid that I had got in a fight with in high
school and hated during high school and just thought to myself oh no this kid
hates me. But me and him have gotten super close and forgave each other and on
his last day here he gave me a blessing that was amazing. He is the kid from
the ward dodge-ball tournament that is started a fight with.
The elders that were about to
leave taught us ton and took us through initiation last night which was super
funny and fun. So far I’m not a huge fan of the food but it’s not terrible. I
have so many new friends from all over but on the first day we met these two
elders that are going to the SLC mission and the Logan mission and they are
super cool and our pals. I see Logan Staley who was my EMT partner and friend
during high school all the time and he’s in my same building so that’s nice and
I see Sister Cockrell all the time as well which is nice.
On Sunday we got a new
branch president so that was cool ahahh the old one was super nice but really
intimidating and the new one is great and very funny. It’s been weird not
having a phone and I always reach for it and realize it’s not there but I’m
fine without it. In class we have been teaching this guy named Ricardo and he
is super cool and nice but during one of the lessons my comp read something out
of a pamphlet and right after he read it, I read the exact same thing and Ricardo
and my comps were laughing super hard at me. The Spanish is hard at times, but
not because we have the gift of tongues. Going outside of the gates was really
weird and made me sad and I just wanted to jump in a car and go home. But now I’m
used to it and I want to be here.
Mucho amor, Elder Barrett.
